My approach
As a qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I have experience of working with clients facing a wide range of issues from anxiety to bereavement and much more. My aim is to support you as you journey through your issues by helping you explore and become more self-aware.
My approaches include Person-centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic approaches and Creative interventions. Creative interventions are particularly useful in helping individuals communicate aspects of memories and stories that may not be easily accessible through conversation. You can see more of what I can help with on the services page.
What our sessions can look like
Some people come with something specific they want to work through. Others simply feel that something is not right and want space to make sense of it. Both are good reasons to reach out. In our sessions there is no pressure to find the right words or to have everything worked out. We go at your pace, and my role is to listen, to help you feel understood, and to gently support you as you explore what matters to you.
Everything we talk about is confidential, within the usual professional and ethical limits. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), so I work to their ethical framework.
My background and training
I have previously worked in social care, managing an office for Methodist Homes for the Aged supporting elderly people living alone at home. I currently work at Lighthouse Counselling in Kent, where I support clients with a wide range of problems. This work has involved short-term and open-ended contracts as well as single-session therapy sessions.
I trained at Waverley Abbey College in Farnham, Surrey (validated by Middlesex University). I attend regular professional workshops to enhance my knowledge and skill set. I also attend Supervision regularly, both with my individual Supervisor and with three of my peers.
